Input in matlab

I'm trying to write a program that asks the user to input a function (expressed in x) (the one I'm running tests with is 1.35*(sqrt(x)) ), and to define x and then the program runs the calculation. I've already read (and tried) a couple of things on the forum, but everytime I try something, I get new errors.

Input in matlab. Request Numeric Input or Expression. Request a numeric input, and then multiply the input by 10. prompt = "What is the original value? " ; x = input (prompt) y = x*10. At the prompt, enter a numeric value or array, such as 42. x = 42 y = 420. The input function also accepts expressions. For example, rerun the code.

file = uigetfile opens a modal dialog box that lists files in the current folder. It enables a user to select or enter the name of a file. If the file exists and is valid, uigetfile returns the file name when the user clicks Open. If the user clicks Cancel or the window close button (X), uigetfile returns 0.

Record Audio. Record data from an audio input device such as a microphone connected to your system: Create an audiorecorder object.
