Litter-robot 4 weight sensor not working

I've got this issue that I believe I've narrowed down to the weight sensor in the "cat's foot" on the bottom of my Litter Robot 3. With no cat having entered the unit, the light will occasionally go red and it will start it's waiting period for the litter to firm up. It'll then start rotating, and will pause a few times during it's rotation ...

When there's too much litter and it spins it mistakes the movement of the heavy litter for a cat stepping inside.
