Everything that could go wrong with the fuel pump went wrong, and the steering column had an incredible amount of slop in the tilt mechanism, the lock cylinder turned without a key, and the gears that said mechanism hooks up to had worn so poorly that simply turning the wheel would shut the truck ...

Two days ago I came across 1987 2.8l 6 cyl Blazer S10. Some guy is selling it for $7.5k. It is a lot of money. He bought it for $650. Add transportation and import costs from United States, you get $5,000 at bear minimum + 2 months of waiting.
